Deer Park Refining Limited Partnership (DPRLP) known as PEMEX Deer Park is a highly complex refinery located 18 miles east of Houston in Deer Park, TX, and is a part of the PEMEX group which is a fully integrated oil company in the Americas, working across the entire value chain: exploration, production, industrial processing/refining, logistics and marketing. PEMEX Deer Park provides a diverse and inclusive work environment that employs approximately 1000 employees with another 1200 contractors on site. The refinery’s rated capacity is 340,000 barrels per day and has the feed flexibility to process multiple grades of crudes to produce the high-quality transportation fuels the world needs. Job Summary

Pemex Deer Park is seeking a motivated, adaptable, and detail-oriented Finance Analyst - Accounting to join a collaborative Finance organization. This position provides hands-on support across accounting close, reconciliations, financial reporting, controls, audit readiness, and transactional activities. The role is important to maintaining complete and accurate financial records, producing reliable information for decision-making, and supporting the financial integrity of the refinery.

The successful candidate will combine strong accounting fundamentals with practical problem-solving and a willingness to work across traditional functional boundaries. As part of a lean, highly integrated team, the analyst will shift priorities as business needs evolve, partner closely with Finance and operational stakeholders, and take ownership of both routine deliverables and more complex assignments.

Key Outcomes

  • Accurate and timely recording of financial activity, supported by well-prepared journal entries, reconciliations, and close documentation.
  • Reliable financial and management reporting that clearly explains results, variances, and key business drivers.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities: 

General Accounting & Financial Close

  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries with clear supporting documentation and appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, investigate reconciling items, and drive timely resolution of aged or unusual balances.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including accruals, account analysis, and completion of assigned close deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with company policies, IFRS, and established accounting procedures.
  • Support preparation and analysis of financial statements, management reports, and recurring accounting schedules.
  • Assist with master data, transactional accounting, and other foundational activities required to maintain the integrity of financial information.

Planning, Reporting & Analysis Support

  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and periodic outlook activities by gathering inputs, validating data, and preparing supporting schedules.
  • Analyze actual results against budget, forecast, and prior periods; identify material variances and help explain the underlying business drivers.
  • Provide timely financial information and analysis to support Finance leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Develop or maintain recurring reports and analytical tools that improve visibility into financial performance.

Controls, Compliance & Audit

  • Execute assigned internal controls consistently and retain evidence that is accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
  • Ensure work complies with company policies, delegation of authority requirements, accounting standards, and applicable regulatory expectations.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, retrieving documentation, responding to information requests, and helping resolve findings.
  • Escalate control gaps, unusual transactions, or potential compliance concerns promptly and support corrective actions.

Process Improvement & Problem Solving

  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, or automate accounting and reporting processes while maintaining appropriate controls.
  • Investigate data or accounting discrepancies, determine root causes, and coordinate practical solutions with the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Document procedures, recurring activities, and key process requirements to strengthen consistency and knowledge transfer.
  • Support Finance transformation initiatives, system enhancements, testing, and process changes as assigned.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with colleagues across Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, Commercial, IT, and other functions to resolve issues and support accurate financial outcomes.
  • Communicate accounting requirements and financial impacts clearly to both Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
  • Build effective working relationships, follow through on commitments, and raise risks or delays early.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and maintaining a One Finance mindset.

Flexibility Across Finance

  • Support a broad range of Finance activities based on business priorities, including work across Controllers, AP/AR, reporting, planning, and related areas.
  • Take on both routine and complex assignments with the same focus on accuracy, timeliness, and ownership.
  • Adapt to changing priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder needs in a fast-paced refinery environment.
  • Provide backup coverage and cross-functional support when needed to sustain business continuity and meet critical Finance deadlines.


 


Qualifications: 

Knowledge, Skills & Functional Strength

  • Solid understanding of IFRS, general ledger accounting, account reconciliation principles, and internal controls.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect detailed transactions to broader financial impacts.
  • High attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, meet close and reporting deadlines, and remain effective when priorities shift.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial matters to non-Finance stakeholders.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; familiarity with reporting, data visualization, or automation tools is beneficial.

Additional Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Deer Park, Texas, in accordance with company and role requirements.
  • May be required to support extended hours during financial close, audits, system implementations, or other critical business periods.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience 


Education and Experience: 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • CPA, CMA, or progress toward a relevant professional certification is a plus.

Experience

  • Three to five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in oil and gas, refining, manufacturing, or another complex industrial environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting financial close, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Experience working within an internal control framework and supporting internal or external audits.
  • SAP experience preferred; experience with S/4HANA, Fiori, or related enterprise systems is a plus.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel to organize, reconcile, and analyze financial data.
