Assistant Professor of Accounting and Finance - Department of Economics and Business


Position DescriptionĀ 

TheĀ Department of Economics and BusinessĀ atĀ Ohio Wesleyan UniversityĀ invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Accounting and Finance beginning August 2027. We seek an outstanding teacher who (1) possesses expertise in accounting or finance and a background in integrating the two disciplines; and (2) is committed to engaging undergraduates in the classroom and in related campus programming through the Woltemade Center, the Accounting and Finance Fellows program, and the Delaware Entrepreneurial Center. The successful candidate will join a departmental and interdisciplinary community with a wide range of research and teaching interests and will benefit from extensive support for junior faculty, including access to theĀ Smith Center for Faculty Excellence, start-up funding, pre-tenure research leave, funding for student-faculty research collaboration via theĀ Summer Scholarship and Research ProgramĀ andĀ The OWU Connection, and a range of workshops and mentoring programs.Ā 


This job is part of a cluster of positions focused on flexibility, interdisciplinarity, and inclusivity. The faculty cohort will join an educational community that values interdisciplinarity and fosters close working relationships with students through our signature program in experiential learning, the OWU Connection. Incoming faculty will be provided with mentoring, professional development, funds, and opportunities to connect with faculty across theĀ Ohio 5Ā andĀ GLCA consortia. Responsibilities:

  • Teach six courses annually (3/3) in accounting and finance at the introductory, intermediate and advanced levels, potentially including introduction to financial accounting, financial statement analysis, financial management, and related topics reflecting both the candidate’s expertise and the needs of the department and program. Ā On average, the faculty member will teach four courses annually in accounting and two courses annually in finance, depending on the department’s needs.

  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Department of Economics and Business to advance a shared vision for extraordinary student outcomes and growth across supported programs.

  • Support department co-curricular groups and activities as appropriate, such as the Woltemade Economics and Business Fellows.

  • Engage in a consistent and focused line of research.

  • Advise students in their academic journey.

  • Provide service to the department, university, and profession.

  • Assist in curriculum development, revision, and evaluation.

Qualifications:

  • Masters of Accountancy, MBA, or doctorate in accounting, finance, or a related field

  • Professional experience in accounting and/or finance

  • Evidence of preparation for teaching at the undergraduate level
