Job Summary

Responsible for supporting hardware pricing, purchasing, and shipping functions to ensure operational efficiency and cross-team coordination. Plays a key role in maintaining customer price lists, quoting specialty items, processing hardware tickets, and managing shipping logistics.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities 

  • Reviews paperwork for incoming merchandise and customer orders in order to distribute work activities to team. 

  • Loads/unloads material onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves by hand. 

  • Prepares inventory for shipment. Properly bands and shrink wraps pallets and attaches shipping labels. 

  • Processes shipping orders using computerized shipping system and monitors order pick report. 

  • Loads and unloads trucks and ensures trucks are loaded by Shippers. 

  • Maintains warehouse inventory on racks in a neat and orderly manner. 

  • Trains Shippers/Receivers as assigned. 

  • Tracks shipping errors. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Nature and Scope 

  • Problems are typically difficult and/or high impact. Troubleshoots complex support or operational problems for junior level associates. 

  • Under limited supervision, independently resolves issues and applies a variety of methods to develop customized solutions. May lead the daily operations of a department or team. Work typically involves infrequent review of output by a supervisor or direct customers of the process. 

  • Assists with supervisory duties but does not have hiring/firing authority. Trains, delegates tasks, and reviews the work of junior level associates. 

 

Work Environment 

  • Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights. 

  • Must continuously stand or walk or regularly requires lifting/handling/carrying material or equipment of moderate to heavy weight (8-40 pounds). 

 

Education and Experience 

  • Technical certification or associate degree may be required in some areas. 

  • Generally 7+ years of experience in area of responsibility. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with shipping, receiving, inventory control, and warehouse operations in a high-volume distribution environment

  • Proficiency with ERP, warehouse management, or order processing systems (e.g., ASA or similar platforms) and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Experience coordinating vendor quotes, purchasing activities, and specialty product sourcing

  • Strong understanding of inventory accuracy, shipping documentation, order tracking, and discrepancy resolution

  • Ability to train, coach, and support associates while helping coordinate daily operational workflows

  • Knowledge of hardware, construction, industrial, or contractor-focused products and related purchasing processes

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across departments

  • Experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment safely; certification preferred
