121 Fleet Lead

About the Role:

The 121 Fleet Lead is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation and management of a fleet of vehicles within the organization, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role involves strategic planning and coordination to maximize fleet utilization while minimizing costs and downtime. The Fleet Lead will collaborate closely with maintenance teams, drivers, and logistics personnel to implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives. They will also analyze fleet data to identify trends, forecast needs, and support decision-making processes. Ultimately, the 121 Fleet Lead plays a critical role in supporting the organization's transportation and operational goals by maintaining a reliable and well-managed fleet.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in fleet management or a related operational leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, safety regulations, and fleet management software.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or business administration.
• Experience with fleet management systems such as GPS tracking, telematics, and maintenance scheduling software.
• Certification in fleet management (e.g., Certified Automotive Fleet Manager - CAFM).
• Familiarity with environmental and sustainability practices related to fleet operations.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily operations of the fleet, including scheduling, dispatching, and monitoring vehicle usage to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
• Coordinate with maintenance and repair teams to schedule preventative maintenance and address any mechanical issues promptly to minimize vehicle downtime.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to fleet operations, including safety standards, licensing, and environmental requirements.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve fleet efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• Analyze fleet performance data and prepare regular reports to inform management decisions and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Lead, train, and supervise fleet staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for vehicle procurement, leasing, and maintenance services.
