Ritsema Law represents employers and insurance carriers in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Montana, New Mexico, and Florida in matters involving workers' compensation, general liability, and Medicare set-asides.  Our team consists of dedicated professionals who value collaboration, integrity, and excellence.


We are currently seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Legal Assistant for our Denver location.  The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.  This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our legal department.  This is an immediate opening for the right candidate.  This is a full-time position requiring 39 hours per week and a flexible 2-day in-office hybrid schedule.  We offer excellent benefits and a casual work environment!


The Legal Assistant will provide administrative support to attorneys, draft and file court documents and correspondence, and work closely with attorneys and paralegals to maintain and organize case files.  Clear and effective communication with clients, co-workers, and attorneys is essential.


Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

- Draft, review, proofread, and file legal documents with the courts, serving them upon other parties involved in the case.

- Prepare and proofread legal correspondence dictated by or drafted by attorneys, submitting these to clients, medical professionals, and other case parties.

- Process, organize, and maintain documents within paperless case files, including ensuring the accuracy of contact information.

- Provide administrative support to attorneys and paralegals, assisting with document processing, case file management, and hearing preparation as needed.

- Combine, compile, and transmit large paperless documents and files.

- Track legal deadlines and meet all deadlines in a timely manner without supervision or direction.


The ideal candidate will have the following experience and skills:

- Strong proofreading, transcription, editing, and formatting skills.

- Proficiency in copying, scanning, and emailing documents.

- Ability to type 75 words per minute or more.

- Capability to work well under pressure.

- Excellent technical skills, with a required proficiency in Microsoft Office.

- Civil litigation experience, preferably in workers' compensation defense.

- Familiarity with Centerbase and NetDocs is beneficial but not required.


Qualifications:

- Experience with general liability defense, workers' compensation subrogation, or related fields is preferred but not required.

- Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.

- Experience in drafting and reviewing legal documents.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

- High level of professionalism and ethical standards.

The salary range for this position is $38,000-$55,000 per year, depending on experience.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

- High School Diploma


Preferred Qualifications:

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word.

- Familiarity with legal case management software is a plus.

- Experience with Adobe Pro is preferred but not essential.

- Previous work experience in a busy office environment, particularly in a legal setting, is preferred.


Skills and Abilities:

- Strong proofreading skills and a solid understanding of spelling and grammar.

- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information effectively both verbally and in writing. Capable of understanding and following verbal and written instructions.

- Strong organizational skills, adept at managing documents in a predominantly paperless office.

- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and complete assignments promptly. Ability to adapt to the changing needs of attorneys and clients.

- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring the production of accurate and high-quality work products.
