The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for families, children, and individuals who are experiencing or at-risk of homelessness throughout Colorado.

Position Summary

The Pharmacy Technician I supports the provision of pharmacy services by preparing medications, processing orders, and assisting patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role ensures accuracy, safety, and efficiency in the delivery of medications while providing customer service and technical support in a high-volume ambulatory care setting. The position contributes to CCH’s mission by reducing barriers to care and supporting integrated, patient-centered pharmacy services for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Duties/Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Prepare new and refill medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and in coordination with other pharmacy technicians.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist patients with prescription needs, providing excellent customer service in a trauma-informed manner.
  • Process prescription orders using the pharmacy tracking system and electronic health record system.
  • Assist with insurance billing, payment processing, and resolution of prescription-related issues.
  • Provide technical support for drug distribution services, inventory management, and ordering supplies.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of services.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational protocols.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to patients, providers, internal staff, and external partners.
  • Maintain a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative work environment aligned with CCH’s mission and values.
  • Ensure timely & accurate recording of all clinical/non-clinical services, communications, and tasks in the electronic health record (EHR) and other systems as required while maintaining complete up-to-date charts and any future upgrades as directed.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Education, Licensure and Certifications 

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire
  • Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
  • Current registration with the Colorado Board of Pharmacy required.

Experience

  • Prior experience as a pharmacy technician required.
  • Experience with insurance billing required.
  • Experience in an FQHC, community health center, or safety-net healthcare setting preferred.

Job Competencies

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills with high emotional intelligence.
  • Knowledge of homelessness, health disparities, and sensitivity to underserved populations.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy systems, EHRs, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
