Job DetailsJob Location: Paint Shop - Detroit, MI 48203Summary/Objective: Verify the spray system and application equipment are ready for production. Properly apply powder topcoats to parts meeting customer’s requirements.    Essential Functions: System Readiness Energize the spray booth and powder prime application guns. Ensure the powder collection system is empty prior to production. Ensure the booth is clean and production ready. Ensure primed parts entering the booth are ready for painting. Inspect parts are clean, defect free, and primer is applied correctly. Visually inspect primer gloss level indicating a good pre-bake process of the primer Ensure proper powder is loaded into hopper. Application Verify gun settings are correct for application. Test spray gun and visually inspect spray pattern. Apply powder evenly by overlapping each pass by 50%.  Achieve proper film build in a 2-coat application. Spray system compliance panel (Q panel) prior to each production grouping Monitor spray gun for cleanliness and proper functionality throughout the production run.  End of shift  Thoroughly clean booth, powder, and surrounding area Perform daily maintenance on the booth. Clean applicators and perform daily maintenance.  QualificationsRequired Education and Experience Ability to understand basic mechanical manufacturing techniques. Two years’ experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education & experience. High school diploma or GED required.     Expected Hours of Work      Full Time: Monday – Friday at least 8 hours a day, with possible overtime daily and on Saturdays.    Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to sparks or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment and job site can be loud.   Physical Demands This position is very active and requires standing for extended periods of time. Frequent bending, lifting, and/or moving of over 50 pounds. Vision abilities for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
