Inspects, installs, repairs, replaces and modifies pipes, fittings, equipment, and plumbing fixtures. Ensures that all work complies with codes and obtains necessary permits. Assigns work to and oversees the work of assigned facilities support staff. 

 

This position is located at Henry Ford Providence Hospital- Novi, MI. 


Responsibilities

  • Plumbing Installation & Maintenance: Inspects, installs, repairs, and maintains piping, fixtures, pumps, valves, and specialized hospital equipment using standard trade tools and welding equipment.

  • Work Order & Project Oversight: Blueprint reading, estimating material costs, obtaining permits, scheduling, assigning tasks to tradespeople, and inspecting contractor work to ensure code compliance.

  • System Fabrication & Modification: Adapts existing equipment or fabricates custom devices and piping connections to meet specific hospital application needs.

  • Documentation & Inventory Management: Orders supplies, tracks materials, and maintains detailed service logs, inspection reports, and equipment history work orders.

  • Safety, Values & Support: Upholds organizational values, team cooperation, and strict safety/Standard Precautions while performing general support duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education:  

  • High school graduate or equivalent required. On-the-job training, trade school or military training in plumbing -required. 

 

License/Certification:

  • Master Plumber License - State of Michigan -required. 

 

 

Experience:  

  • Eight years of concentrated plumbing experience preferably in a health care setting -required. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

 

  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills consistent with mission and values.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrates ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail while performing tasks.
  • Demonstrates ability to read, write and understand written and verbal communications. Demonstrates ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction and multiplication.
  • Demonstrates ability to walk and stand approximately 90% of work time, lift and position equipment and devises up to 60 lbs.
