Operations Manager

The Operations Manager directs and supports all operational functions located within the branch location and facilitates the maximization of resources to achieve customer satisfaction, productivity, schedule adherence, and company goals.


Essential Functions

  • Oversee branch operations to ensure finished goods meet or exceed company and customer quality requirements.
  • Supervise, coach, train, and develop assigned personnel to support performance, productivity, advancement, and future staffing needs.
  • Manage inventory levels, purchasing needs, open purchase orders, and related communication with the Inventory/Purchasing Department.
  • Coordinate with production, customer service, account specialists, and other VSP locations to resolve customer requests, late orders, order status, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure scheduled ship dates are met, orders are committed for invoicing on the date of shipment, and operational priorities are communicated effectively.
  • Properly conduct and oversee inventory transactions in ERP and maintain accurate operational records.
  • Implement and uphold VSP’s Quality Management System, company policies, work procedures, and required training practices.
  • Implement and uphold company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies; ensure team compliance; report near misses and safety concerns; and support safety and sustainability objectives.
  • Communicate with the Director of Operations regarding operational needs, concerns, improvement opportunities, efficiencies, and growth.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Operations and appropriate sales team members to support regional sales activities and opportunities.
  • Manage routine facility, equipment, infrastructure, and maintenance needs to ensure a safe, neat, and orderly work environment.
  • Attend and participate in Operations staff meetings and communicate relevant updates, priorities, and action items.
  • Foster cooperative working relationships across the company to support employee morale, productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Promote a favorable company image with employees, customers, vendors, and the public.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve operational performance, service, quality, safety, cost control, and resource utilization.

Experience / Education

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience in a manufacturing, production, warehouse, industrial, or branch environment, including responsibility for directing, coaching, developing, or coordinating the work of others.
  • Experience with operational functions such as production planning, inventory management, customer service, quality, safety, purchasing, and/or facility operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with the ability to organize, analyze, and interpret operational data; maintain reports and trackers; and use spreadsheets to support business and operational decision-making.
  • Preferred Qualifications: working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, continuous improvement, or similar operational excellence methodologies.

Job Type: Full-time, Monday–Friday.  The work hours will be determined based on the assigned facility.


Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected
