Job Description:

 

We are currently seeking a proactive Lead, Manufacturing Engineer with a strong desire for problem-solving to join our dynamic team at L3Harris in Huntsville, AL. 

 

Working for Critical Process Task Force team supporting manufacturing operations across organization.

 

In this role, you will support the identification, analysis, and resolution of manufacturing challenges, thereby contributing to operational efficiency and product quality. Your role will help develop practical solutions to production issues, improve production performance, and support the team as it works through technical challenges.

 

As a collaborative and resourceful member of our cross-functional team, you will apply analytical skills and an innovative mindset to troubleshoot, learn quickly, and improve our manufacturing processes. Your adaptability and critical thinking will be important as you work through a range of engineering challenges with guidance from more senior team members. Essential Functions:

 

  • Support resolution of manufacturing issues to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and production efficiency.
  • Assist with implementing corrective actions and process improvements that address production challenges, reduce waste, and strengthen operational performance.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Design Engineering, and other stakeholders to help remove technical and execution barriers.
  • Follow, improve, and uphold manufacturing standards, processes, and execution discipline while maintaining a hands-on problem-solving approach.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other structured problem-solving methods to support continuous improvement.
  • Interpret technical, process, and production data, and communicate findings clearly to support team decisions and actions.
  • Ability to obtain US Secret Security Clearance.
  • Travel: 15%.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior Manufacturing/Engineering experience; or a Graduate Degree and a minimum 7 years of prior Manufacturing/Engineering experience; or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior Manufacturing/Engineering experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Experience supporting manufacturing engineering, production support, or continuous improvement efforts in aerospace, defense, automotive, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, RCCA, statistical process control, or equivalent structured problem-solving methods.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, manufacturing work instructions, routers, and technical data packages.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP, MES, PLM or similar tools used to support manufacturing execution.
  • CREO experience is desired.
  • PLC Programming experience is a plus.
  • Compression molding experience is a plus.
