About This RoleÂ
A Sr. Engineer I/II in Automation & MES is a key member of the RTP Bio Automation & MES team, supporting both day-to-day manufacturing operations and large-scale capital and improvement projects. This role provides technical leadership for DeltaV and Syncade MES systems, partnering cross-functionally to design, implement, and sustain robust automation solutions that enable safe, compliant, and efficient biopharmaceutical manufacturing.Â

What You’ll DoÂ
Provide technical leadership and hands-on support for DeltaV and Syncade MES systems across development, validation, and production environmentsÂ
Design, implement, and maintain software solutions and interfaces with systems such as PI Historian, Oracle, CMMS, Veeva, LIMS, and other enterprise platformsÂ
Author, review, and approve automation and MES documentation, including design specifications, test protocols, and lifecycle documentsÂ
Execute and own change controls for validated automation systems in compliance with site and quality requirementsÂ
Troubleshoot automation and MES issues to support manufacturing operations, including participation in an on-call rotationÂ
Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to define validation strategies and ensure alignment across deliverablesÂ
Lead or support medium to large automation projects with minimal directionÂ
Mentor and train junior engineers while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the automation functionÂ

Required Skills for a Sr Engineer I: 93,000-121,000 pay range
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university Â
At minimum 4 years of experience in automation engineeringÂ
Hands-on exposure to DeltaV and/or Syncade recipe authoring
Strong experience with validated systems, including documentation and change control executionÂ
Ability to troubleshoot complex automation software and hardware issuesÂ
Required Skills for a Sr Engineer II: 107,000-143,000 pay range
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university Â
At minimum 6 years of experience in automation engineeringÂ
Proven proficiency with DeltaV and/or Syncade recipe authoring
Strong experience with validated systems, including documentation and change control executionÂ
Ability to troubleshoot complex automation software and hardware issuesÂ
Experience developing and leading design philosophy and standardization across DeltaV and/or Syncade MES systems
Â
Preferred SkillsÂ
Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or universityÂ
Experience in automation engineering supporting manufacturing operations in a large-scale biotech or pharmaceutical environmentÂ
Experience working with both DeltaV and Syncade MES platforms
Familiarity with batch reporting, MES design principles, and review-by-exception conceptsÂ
Experience supporting technology transfer, capital projects, or site-wide improvementsÂ
Prior experience mentoring or training junior engineersÂ

Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
