Job DetailsJob Location: Eagleville Hospital - Eagleville, PA 19403Education Level: 4 Year DegreeTravel Percentage: NoneJob Shift: AnyJob Category: Health CareJob Summary       Responsible for supervision of nursing staff on the assigned shift, the nursing care provided               and related administrative and professional nursing activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:     Clinical Available to offer direct and indirect clinical support as needed.  Available by pager to coordinate or intervene in medical/psychiatric emergencies, complex clinical issues or situations.  Available to answer daily clinical problems and questions generated by nursing staff and other team members.  Acts as a clinical resource and role model for nursing staff.  Monitors care of patients with wounds, anticoagulants, seizures  Reports pertinent clinical information to the Director of Nursing. Coordinate the admission process as needed. 11-7 Shift: Responsible for conducting all aspects of admission process including insurance pre-certification, etc.  Direct responsibility for discharge summary process.   Administrative Responsible for supervision of nursing staff on the assigned shift.  Makes rounds to all nursing units twice per shift.   Obtains shift report from nursing units and relays pertinent information to the next shift.  Completes staff performance evaluations.  Responsible for staffing schedules and daily unit staffing.   Interacts with managed care and all insurance entities as necessary.  Enters admissions, discharges, transfers and service changes in the Hospital Information System.  Activates fire and disaster plans.  Reviews staff timecards in EZ Labor and time accruals for accuracy.  Works with Security to ensure safety of patients and staff.   Oversees emergencies.  Facilitates 302 petitions and emergency transfers. Completes supervisory report and checks 24-hour census for accuracy. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for attending and ensuring that all staff members participate in mandated training.  Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.  Education / Research / Professional Assists with orientation of new employees; ensures training specific to employee job duties    Participates on appropriate committees and task forces.   Involved in research and other professional activities. Leads and coordinates patient care monitoring as required.  Supports quality improvement activities.   Responsible for attending all mandated training.       7.  Must comply with current hospital safety and infection control policies.      8.  Maintains a professional cooperative, courteous and respectful demeanor in all interactions with patients, visitors and other employees.  Customer Service and Satisfaction: 1.    Answer telephone calls promptly and professionally, stating to the caller “Eagleville Hospital” your name and department. 2.    Assisting patients, family members and other customers with concern and empathy. 3.    Respect patient confidentiality and privacy.  4.    Communicate with all customers in a respectful and courteous manner.                                       QualificationsEducational Requirements Graduate of accredited school of nursing, current Pennsylvania State license (RN). Graduate of an accredited college or university, BSN or MSN preferred. Qualifications Minimum of five years experience as a practicing RN.   Management experience in a psychiatric setting and/or  drug/alcohol facility  (evaluated individually).  Ability to communicate well, both orally and written.  Establish good rapport with staff and patients.   Leadership skills, supervisory experience, ability to organize and facilitate patient care in any inpatient unit within the Hospital,  training in group dynamics and group therapy, physical and psychological assessment skills (evaluated individually), ability to work within a team structure. Physical Requirements Works in office setting.  Must move between buildings and units.  Some stair climbing. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (only in assisted lifts).  Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Work Environment Exposure to infectious diseases. Required to intervene in psychiatric emergencies. Must work 1 weekend per month.
