Job purpose 

  • The Quality Manager ensures that the organization meets industry standards and regulatory requirements while maintaining high-quality products and services. The Quality Manager plays a critical role in maintaining the trust and satisfaction of customers and stakeholders by ensuring that products and services meet high-quality standards and comply with relevant regulations. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Quality Management Systems: Develop, implement, monitor and manage quality control systems and tools to ensure continuous production meets or exceeds established standards and regulatory requirements.  
  • Manage and maintain the ISO9001 QMS system. Participate in annual internal and external ISO 9001 audits.  
  • Audits and Compliance: Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure adherence to industry standards, legal compliance, and customer expectations. This includes preparing audit plans and managing audit findings. 
  • Develop and implement proactive supplier audits for preventative quality assurance. 
  • Documentation Management: Oversee the documentation system for quality procedures, standards, and specifications, ensuring they are controlled and up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements. 
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with various departments to integrate quality considerations into new product development and existing product improvements. 
  • Training and Development: Provide training and support to staff on quality standards and compliance obligations, fostering a culture of quality within the organization. 
  • Advocate and promote a Quality culture with Continuous Improvement and LEAN methodologies. 
  • Analyze Quality data to establish action plans. This includes both proactive and reactive quality action plans. 
  • Use Risk Based thinking / methodologies to ensure all action plans will result in sustainable improvements. 
  • Lead and train on Root Cause Investigations, and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA/8D) activities. 
  • Investigate and fix troubleshooting issues with inspection processes.  Automate whenever possible. 
  • Perform daily “go and see” activities. Lead or participate in problem solving teams and kaizen events to improve operating performance. 
  • Read and interpret simple electrical specifications, wiring, and circuit diagrams to have a better understanding of production roles. 
  • Provide problem-solving support for production operations.  
  • Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with each team member. 
  • Attend daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and strategic meetings as required.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or Business  
  • 10+ years' experience in operations, quality, and continuous improvement 
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or other Continuous Improvement 
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate paper-based and electronic documentation, correspondence, and records 
  • Ability to handle sensitive customer and employee information with discretion, confidentiality, and sensitivity 
  • Ability to successfully interact and communicate with all levels of the organization 
  • Ability to perform moderately complex and diverse tasks with minimal supervision, and to recognize and solve issues before they become crises 
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent grammar and strong writing/editing and proofreading  
  • Strong organization skills, able to work well under pressure and manage several tasks simultaneously 
  • Strong project management skills 

 

Working conditions and Physical Requirements 

This position requires a combination of sitting and standing for long periods of time. Some light lifting may be required.
