Job Description 

We’re seeking the right team member who can apply knowledge of working characteristics of plastics and bonding techniques using precision instruments, hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment. This team member will contribute to our offshore fishing boats production by releasing air bubbles and smoothing seams of fiberglass using rollers. Do you have the ability to work with fiberglass in a non-climate controlled environment while working as a team?

This person will pat and press layers of saturated mat/cloth into place on molds by using brushes or their hands. This team member will mix catalysts into resins and check completed products for defects. This person will trim excess materials from molds, repair and modify damaged/defective glass-fiber parts and trim cured materials using tools. The team member will also mask off mold areas to eliminate lamination and inspect, clean and assemble molds prior to working on them.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the manufacturing process
  • Knowledge of chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods
  • Previous fiberglass lamination experience preferred
  • Excellent time management, team work and communication skills

Work Environment   

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements include eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, protective suits, dusts masks and respirators.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Employees must be able to work a 10-hour shift or more in one work day including planned and unplanned overtime.
  • Exhibits ability to work cautiously but efficiently in potentially hazardous conditions.
  • This role requires annual HAZWASTE training
