SUMMARY:  The Safety Supervisor works directly with Operations, Quality, Human Resources, and other facility teams to provide technical expertise, leadership, and support for the site’s safety culture.  Â
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Administer, support, and maintain facility safety programs and policies
- Continuous safety evaluation for facility, including but not limited to machine guarding, ergonomics, slip-trip-fall hazards, and electrical safety.
- Collaborate with facility management on solutions for operational and safety concerns.
- Educate team members on the principles of George’s safety culture.
- Conduct incident analyses including root cause analysis and fish bone diagrams.
- Administer Industrial hygiene testing.
- Support and coordinate safety training for facility teams.
- Complete necessary paperwork to satisfy regulatory requirements or program requirements.
- Partner with management, supervisors, and team members to ensure a safe and supportive work environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Required
- High School Diploma
- 4+ years of experience in health and safety OR a bachelor’s degree in a safety related field of study
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – written and verbal
- Basic knowledge of OSHA standards – both regulatory requirements and hazard identification
- Proficient computer skills, especially in Microsoft applications (Excel, Power Point, Outlook etc.)
- Preferred
- Professional Certification
- 1 year of safety experience in food manufacturing
- Bilingual preferred
