Job Description

 

Part-Time LPN or Medical Assistant (MA) – Medical Mall Clinic

Cedar County Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for a Part-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant (MA) in the CCMH Medical Mall Clinic. This position will provide clinical support to the clinic provider by assisting with patient care, clinical procedures, documentation, and day-to-day clinic operations in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Room patients and obtain vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, height, weight, pulse, etc.).
  • Assist the provider with patient assessments by collecting and documenting basic health information in the clinic or by phone.
  • Document patient assessments, care provided, and follow-up instructions, including scheduling follow-up appointments as directed.
  • Assist with exams, procedures, and operation of diagnostic equipment as requested.
  • Prepare exam rooms, maintain cleanliness of patient care areas, and utilize appropriate aseptic techniques for procedures and medication administration.
  • Maintain non-complex clinical instruments and equipment, identify maintenance needs, and coordinate repairs as appropriate.
  • If requested, serve as a medical scribe by entering provider documentation into the electronic medical record (EMR) and assisting the provider with reviewing and electronically signing documentation.
  • Reinforce patient education by confirming understanding of treatment plans, medications, and follow-up instructions.
  • Assist with patient registration, answering phones, scanning documents, referrals, prior authorizations, and other clerical duties as assigned.
  • Communicate test results, provider instructions, and other patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Remain available to the provider throughout scheduled clinic hours, including prolonged periods of sitting or standing while assisting with patient care and documentation.
  • Administer vaccinations and approved medications, change dressings, and provide other clinical support within the scope of licensure or certification and organizational policy.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Comply with all applicable regulatory requirements, organizational policies and procedures, professional standards, and Medicare Conditions of Participation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current, unrestricted Missouri Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Current certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred where applicable.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a medical clinic or physician office setting preferred.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, including documentation, referrals, and prior authorizations.
  • Knowledge of clinical standards of care appropriate to the position.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a healthcare team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday while operating a computer and telephone system.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, lifting, and frequent use of hands and fingers.
  • Normal vision, hearing, and verbal communication abilities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
