Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Position Summary

How you'll contribute

 

A LPN/LVN who excels in this role:

  •  Administer medications safely, accurately, and based on patient age and clinical condition.
  • Minimize potential for medication errors by following proper medication administration procedures.
  • Assist the RN with initial assessments and patient reassessments per policy.
  • Identify and implement appropriate rehabilitation nursing interventions.
  • Perform timely and accurate Quality Improvement (QI) assessments under RN supervision.
  • Deliver care based on patient response to treatment and update the interdisciplinary plan accordingly.
  • Assess and reassess pain; use appropriate pain management techniques and educate patients and families.
  • Perform all patient care tasks in a manner that promotes patient safety and reduces medical errors.
  • Develop and implement individualized teaching plans based on patient and family learning needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current California LPN/LVN license OR Compact License with California endorsement and possess an Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • Certifications: LPN CPR/BLS certification required; IV Certification highly preferred or must be obtained within 6 months. 
  • Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Experience: One-year previous experience preferred.
  • Licenses: Must have a current RN license in the state of practice.
  • Education: California LPN/LVN license OR Compact License with California endorsement
