Summary

Performs broad production/process planning functions requiring extensive knowledge and experience to prepare production schedules, instructions, and documents for manufacture of products. Monitors production progress and intervenes accordingly by performing the following duties.


  • Essential Duties And Responsibilities include the following with other duties as assigned:
  • May lead others in the following tasks.
  • Prepare schedules to establish sequence and lead-time of each manufacturing operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts and customer orders. 
  • Possess the ability to interpret specifications, blue prints and work order requirements to support new program requirements.
  • Participate in meetings with manufacturing, engineering, program management, customers, and vendors as a team member as required.
  • Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
  • Plan and schedule work center and sequence according to previously established program requirements.
  • Utilize production system tools to evaluate part availability status and expedite parts as needed to support schedule. 
  • Determine method of procurement such as direct purchase or sub-contract.
  • Create and release system documents and files for cost collecting data and controlling production.
  • Coordinate and adjust jobs as needed to meet operational changes.
  • Prioritize routine tasks to support department requirements.
  • Prepare status reports for management while tracking the progress of jobs from released status through completion. 
  • Advise schedule deficiencies to manufacturing organization and program management.
  • Review and evaluate jobs for completion, assuring all costs are applied prior to completing. Confers with accounting or operational departments as required.
  • Confer with manufacturing department supervisors to assess status of assigned projects.
  • Analyze operational delays in schedules, and facilitate changes to meet master schedule.
  • Prepare manufacturing instructions to manufacture goods to meet customer needs and system demands.
  • Prepare picking instructions to obtain materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Prepare requisitions to obtain materials. Conferring with engineering and manufacturing departments as needed.
  • Evaluate overall system work flows to propose possible process improvements.
  • Assist manager by preparing work procedures, process flows, etc.
  • Understand and follow established procedures and support audits conducted by internal and external quality teams.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience 

Position requires completion of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a non-technical field for job proficiency with 5-7 years related experience.


Language Skill

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such a stately rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers of employees of organization. 

 

Reasoning Ability 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 


Customer Orientation

Must demonstrate concern and take actions to meet requirements and high standards of quality of both internal and external customers. Must display courtesy and sensitivity. Manage difficult situations. Meet commitments. Respond promptly to customer needs. Solicit customer feedback to improve service.
