Job DetailsJob Location: Farmington Hills Office - Farmington Hills, MI 48334Position Type: Full TimeTravel Percentage: Occasional    POSITION LOCATION   This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Currently 5 days on-site work per month are required.    POSITION PURPOSE   Responsible for working with the technical team to continually improve availability, response time and overall performance of systems supported by the 7x24 data centers. Supports Linux & UNIX (AIX) operating systems technology and the various tasks and services related to server infrastructure support. Maintains professional business relations with clients and outside contacts. Keeps management well informed of area activities.     DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES         Create and maintain user accounts within AIX. Troubleshooting of hardware- and operating system-level issues. Building and provisioning of new systems. Migrating existing systems to new hardware. Perform AIX Operating System updates and upgrades. Perform Episys application updates and upgrades. Provides server back-up and recovery support for infrastructure issues. Provision and build new Linux systems. Perform updates to ancillary applications as needed. Maintain systems to meet security and compliance requirements. Configuration and maintenance of additional software under Linux (MariaBD, OpenSSH, Apache HTTPD, etc.). Investigates alternative design approaches to determine best solutions to a problem, taking into account clients’ needs, subsequent modification and resources. Develops and maintains any required systems documentation and processes. Responsible for understanding process administration, file maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and fundamental understanding of TCP/IP networks. Provides suggestions in the development of IT strategies and policies. Ensures that new systems support client needs. Obtains and conveys information as needed. Promotes goodwill and a positive image of the company. Tracks and resolves client problems promptly and effectively. Assists personnel in other departments to increase understanding of system operations and effectively integrate new technology. Keeps management well informed of area activities and of any significant problems. Coordinates, plans and processes all daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual production activities within data center operation. Ensures that reports are completed accurately and timely. Attends meetings as required. Manages all issues of assigned responsibility within the help desk tracking system governed by service level agreements. Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained. Performs miscellaneous projects as assigned. Updates technical skills as required. Complete additional duties as assigned.   EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS   High school graduate or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.   REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE   Knowledge of network operations and related computer hardware and software. Knowledge of Linux Operating Systems (preferably Redhat-based). Knowledge of and experience with TCP/IP functionality and concepts. Understanding of company operations and output requirements.   PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE   Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage, specifically the hardware and software maintenance and configuration. Programming skills: Bash/Ksh Scripting, Perl, Python, etc. Knowledge of virtualization concepts. Knowledge of UNIX Operating Systems (preferably IBM AIX). Experience in website modification and maintenance. Knowledge of database software, user access control, security models, and backup processes.   WORKING CONDITIONS   Special No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions (such as in a typical office). Additional hours, including Saturday/Sunday support, as required. Occasional travel overnight for training and conferences. Long duration of computer workstation usage.
