Summary of Job Duties:

The William Dillard Department of Accounting in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas seeks applications from interested candidates to fill a non-tenure track Instructor position effective August 2027. The Instructor position is a non-tenure-track, teaching-focused position with a four-course (12 credit hour) teaching load each semester with a mix of face-to-face and online courses, as needed.

Duties include discipline-specific intellectual engagement activities to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines, consistent with AACSB Instructional Practitioner status. Teaching duties include holding regular office hours, providing timely grading feedback for students, and conducting the class to facilitate learning for all students, consistent with good teaching practices.  

All full-time faculty are responsible for participating in program curriculum development and reviewing and maintaining program currency, viability, and quality along with activities linked to department course assignments. Departmental service activities are expected. Reduced teaching loads may be included dependent upon assigned service and administrative roles. Instructors can expect to devote 40 or more hours a week to the position. The amount of time spent on campus will vary. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience; benefits are competitive.

Regular on-campus availability, in-person teaching, and active contribution to the life of the department, including exhibiting respect and cooperation in shared academic and administrative tasks are essential duties.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree from an AACSB (or equivalent) accredited university in accounting or a closely related field conferred by the start of employment

  • In the absence of a graduate degree, qualified experience is considered. Experience should be equivalent to the degree it would otherwise require for the faculty position. Experience should include breadth and depth of experience outside of the classroom in real-world situations relevant to accounting

  • Must meet Instructional Practitioner status under AACSB guidelines, including two or more years of industry work experience and a demonstrated record of engagement with industry professionals

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and/or an interest in teaching courses in financial accounting and/or managerial accounting

  • At least five years of teaching experience in the Walton College of Business or a similar business school

  • Evidence of high-quality teaching in undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses  

  • At least five years of professional work experience in accounting or a closely related field
