Reporting to the Production Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor will lead a team of employees and coordinate maintenance activities and projects at the Fayetteville, Tennessee plant. With safety as a top priority, responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Personnel Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance team members to enhance department efficiency, reliability, and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and deliver employee onboarding, orientation, job-specific training, and ongoing education regarding safety, equipment, quality expectations, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate employee training and development records; establish individual improvement plans as needed.
  • Communicate performance expectations, provide regular feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and establish department objectives in collaboration with the Production Manager and Human Resources.
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and professional work environment; resolve interpersonal and group conflicts promptly.
  • Administer employment practices consistently and without discrimination or retaliation; maintain strict confidentiality of employee and workplace information.
  • Monitor attendance, track and pre-approve overtime, review/approve hours for payroll, and manage shift coverage based on operational requirements.
  • Apply workplace policies and implement corrective or disciplinary actions in consultation with Human Resources and in accordance with applicable laws and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Encourage employee participation in continuous improvement initiatives covering safety, quality, and productivity.

Safety, Health & Environmental Compliance

  • Champion safety leadership by enforcing compliance with federal, state (Tennessee OSHA), and company health and safety standards (including Lockout/Tagout, machine guarding, and safe-work practices).
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks are conducted safely and meet site quality and environmental standards.
  • Lead or participate in incident and accident investigations in collaboration with HR and EHS personnel.

Maintenance Operations & Planning

  • Establish maintenance priorities based on safety, operational requirements, production schedules, equipment condition, and business impact.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance planner to develop and execute daily, weekly, and planned-shutdown schedules, including preventive (PM) and predictive (PdM) maintenance plans.
  • Establish and maintain Level 1 / Operator maintenance standards for key machinery and equipment.
  • Manage the spare parts inventory and safety stock based on equipment criticality, lead times, cost, and operational impact.
  • Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and external contractors to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly.
  • Track and analyze equipment history, downtime, repair costs, parts usage, and department KPIs (equipment availability, schedule compliance, backlog) to drive proactive reliability and implement corrective measures.

Administration & Financial Management

  • Serve as the primary administrator and power user for the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), providing user support and training.
  • Ensure all work orders, equipment histories, inspections, and compliance documentation are accurate and complete.
  • Prepare, manage, and control the maintenance budget in collaboration with the Plant Manager.
  • Assist in negotiating, establishing, and administering service agreements for outside maintenance contractors.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of industrial equipment troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive/predictive maintenance methodologies.
  • Proficiency with CMMS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and effectively engage with union representatives and represented employees.
  • Ability to work on the plant floor around industrial machinery wearing required PPE.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside normal business hours, including overtime, weekends, holidays, emergency call-ins, and planned shutdowns as required.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.

Education & Experience

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Operations/Maintenance Management, Project Management, or a related field preferred (equivalent combination of relevant education, technical training, and industrial experience will be considered).
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar maintenance environment.
  • Experience supervising a unionized or represented workforce strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs, maintenance planning, reliability practices, and continuous improvement methodologies.
