Main responsibilities:
The Assistant Deli Manager supports the Deli Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Deli Department, ensuring outstanding customer service, food safety compliance, product quality, and department profitability. This role assists in leading deli associates, maintaining production and merchandising standards, driving sales, and ensuring customers receive a fresh, high-quality deli experience.
Key Responsibilities Department Operations- Assist in managing the daily operations of the Deli Department.
- Ensure deli products are prepared, stocked, and displayed in accordance with company standards.
- Monitor product freshness, quality, and presentation throughout the day.
- Support production planning to meet customer demand while minimizing waste.
- Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and readiness.
- Assist the Deli Manager in supervising, training, and developing deli associates.
- Support onboarding and training of new team members.
- Provide coaching and performance feedback to improve productivity and service.
- Promote a positive work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and customer service.
- Serve as department leader in the Deli Manager's absence.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a customer-first culture.
- Assist customers with product selection, meal solutions, catering orders, and special requests.
- Address customer concerns professionally and resolve issues promptly.
- Ensure department associates provide friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient service.
- Assist with food preparation, production schedules, and inventory management.
- Ensure all products meet company quality and presentation standards.
- Execute merchandising plans, promotional displays, and seasonal programs.
- Verify pricing accuracy, signage, and proper product rotation.
- Support catering and special-order programs as applicable.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health department, and company requirements.
- Maintain proper food handling, storage, temperature monitoring, and recordkeeping practices.
- Promote workplace safety and adherence to safe operating procedures.
- Ensure department equipment is maintained and operated properly.
- Support the achievement of departmental sales, profit, labor, and shrink goals.
- Assist with ordering and inventory control processes.
- Monitor waste and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Support labor scheduling and productivity initiatives.
