Main responsibilities:
The Butcher Block Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Butcher Block and service meat counter, ensuring exceptional customer service, food safety compliance, product quality, and operational efficiency. This role leads associates in the preparation, merchandising, and sale of fresh meat and seafood products while supporting sales growth, inventory management, and department profitability. The Butcher Block Supervisor serves as a subject matter expert in meat cutting, product knowledge, and service counter operations.
Key Responsibilities Department Operations- Oversee daily Butcher Block operations, ensuring product availability, quality, and presentation standards are maintained.
- Supervise the preparation, cutting, packaging, and merchandising of fresh meat products.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper replenishment of service case and sales floor displays.
- Maintain department organization, cleanliness, and operational readiness.
- Ensure adherence to company merchandising and service standards.
- Deliver outstanding customer service and promote a customer-first culture.
- Assist customers with product selection, cooking recommendations, special orders, and custom cuts.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
- Educate customers on product offerings, preparation methods, and value-added services.
- Supervise and support Butcher Block associates and Meat Department team members.
- Provide training on meat cutting techniques, food safety practices, customer service, and department procedures.
- Assist with scheduling, task assignments, and daily workflow management.
- Coach and develop associates to enhance performance and productivity.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Ensure attractive and effective product displays that drive sales.
- Monitor product rotation, freshness, and shrink control practices.
- Assist with ordering, inventory management, and receiving activities.
- Verify pricing accuracy, promotional execution, and signage compliance.
- Support seasonal merchandising programs and special events.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and health department requirements.
- Maintain proper product handling, labeling, storage, and temperature controls.
- Complete required food safety documentation and operational records.
- Promote workplace safety and adherence to department safety procedures.
- Participate in department audits and corrective action activities as needed.
- Support achievement of sales, profit, labor, and shrink goals.
- Monitor waste and identify opportunities to improve productivity and profitability.
- Assist leadership in managing department expenses and operational efficiencies.
- Drive initiatives that improve sales performance and customer engagement.
