Position Summary

Compassion Behavioral Health is seeking an experienced, dependable, and highly flexible Driver / Transportation Specialist to join our dual diagnosis treatment program. This position is based out of our Fort Lauderdale facility and is responsible for providing safe, professional, and reliable transportation services for both newly admitting clients and current clients receiving treatment.

The Driver / Transportation Specialist will transport clients to and from our facilities, airports, medical appointments, recovery-related activities, and other approved destinations within a 200-mile radius. Because transportation needs frequently change based on admissions and client care requirements, the ideal candidate must be flexible with scheduling and willing to adjust working hours to meet operational demands.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and timely transportation for newly admitting clients and active clients of the program.
  • Transport clients between our Fort Lauderdale and South Hollywood facilities as needed.
  • Drive clients to and from airports, medical appointments, meetings, treatment-related activities, and other approved destinations.
  • Safely provide transportation to newly admitting clients within a 200-mile radius. 
  • Maintain professional boundaries and interactions with clients at all times.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and immediately report any maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Ensure vehicles remain clean, fueled, and ready for daily operations.
  • Maintain transportation logs and other required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with Admissions, Operations, Clinical, and Leadership teams regarding transportation schedules and changes.
  • Adapt to changing schedules and respond appropriately to urgent or last-minute transportation requests.
  • Follow all company policies, HIPAA requirements, and transportation procedures.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience preferred.
  • Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record review.
  • CPR certification
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accountability.
  • Experience working in healthcare, behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, hospitality, or client services environments is preferred.


Requirements

  • Must be reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Must be comfortable driving long distances on a regular basis.
  • Must be willing and able to transport clients throughout South Florida and within a 200-mile radius of Fort Lauderdale.
  • Must be flexible with work hours to accommodate admissions, client appointments, and changing transportation needs.
  • Ability to safely assist clients with luggage and personal belongings when necessary.
  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, healthcare transportation, or patient transport services.
  • Familiarity with South Florida roadways and surrounding regions.
