POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

The Equipment Operator II-III is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of light and medium-sized equipment used in construction, maintenance, and repair projects. This position performs various tasks to support operations, including operating machinery, performing routine maintenance, and assisting in manual labor tasks as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Operate light to medium-sized equipment such as loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, skid steers, and other machinery as required.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment to ensure proper working condition, including checking oil, fluids, tire pressure, and other necessary components.
  • Assist in manual labor tasks when not operating equipment, such as shoveling, raking, lifting, or carrying materials.
  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols while operating equipment and performing tasks.
  • Load and unload equipment and materials safely from trucks and trailers.
  • Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors to ensure projects are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
  • Ensure the worksite is clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must be familiar with the essential safety (MSHA) requirements and hazards of an open pit mining environment.
  • Must pass pre-employment and ongoing random drug testing.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, and crawl.
  • Ability to operate machinery for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid Arizona driver’s license; CDL preferred

A minimum of  5 years of experience operating light to medium equipment in construction, maintenance, or a related field is preferred.

Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair.

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
