Plasman is currently seeking a new member to join our Finance team as a(n):

Cost Accountant

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure plant transactions are entered properly.

  • Maintain check methods to confirm transaction entry into the MRP system.

  • Maintain daily financial reports.

  • Analyze direct labor and indirect labor variances daily and report on periodic variances and their causes.

  • Perform scrap analysis.

  • Assist with developing product costs for the budget.

  • Generate weekly material and direct labor variance reports and assist with variance analysis.

  • Create system query reports as necessary.

  • Make recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.

  • Assist with database maintenance and updates, including the defect database.

  • Conduct standard-cost updates and maintenance.

  • Monitor the MRP system for accuracy, including errors in receiving, production reporting, shipping, and routings.

  • Review production, shipping, receiving, and move-ticket transactions as needed.

  • Update and post internal part-number cross-reference sheets as needed.

  • Identify and recommend improvements to current standards.

  • Assist the Materials department with monthly inventory activities.

  • Create product structures and maintain bills of material for all manufactured goods.

  • Prepare documentation related to questions about information entered into the system.

  • Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies.

  • Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end closing process.

  • Promote an atmosphere of teamwork.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • College-level education is preferred.

  • At least one year of experience in a costing or inventory-control environment required.

  • Three to five years of related experience is preferred.

  • Ability to perform well in high-pressure situations.

  • Sound financial and business insight.

  • Ability to travel independently to, from, and within designated regions.

  • Access to reliable transportation.

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to comply with organizational standards, policies, procedures, and all applicable quality, environmental, health, and safety requirements.
