Job Summary

The Lead Maintenance Mechanic in a healthcare environment is a highly skilled professional responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing critical building systems and medical support infrastructure to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role provides technical leadership to the maintenance team, mentors junior technicians, and serves as a subject matter expert on a wide range of facility systems. Responsibilities also include overseeing preventative maintenance programs, managing work through CMMS software, and supporting hospital operations with prompt, quality service.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Facility Maintenance and Repair:
Perform complex diagnostics and repairs on hospital equipment and infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, medical gas systems, and emergency power.
•    Leadership and Mentoring:
Lead day-to-day operations of the maintenance team; provide training, guidance, and support to junior technicians, and ensure high standards of workmanship and safety.
•    Preventative Maintenance Programs:
Design, implement, and oversee preventative maintenance schedules that ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and equipment reliability.
•    Safety and Compliance:
Maintain a safe working environment by following OSHA, NFPA, and Joint Commission standards; participate in safety audits and emergency preparedness drills.
•    CMMS Utilization:
Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, asset tracking, and inventory control.
•    Technical Troubleshooting:
Identify and resolve complex building system issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuity of hospital services.
•    Documentation and Reporting:
Keep detailed records of inspections, repairs, and equipment performance; assist in reporting for regulatory inspections and audits.
•    Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of facility operations by identifying cost-saving initiatives, energy efficiency opportunities, and workflow enhancements.
•    Project Coordination:
Support or lead facility upgrade and maintenance projects, coordinating with contractors and hospital departments to minimize disruption to patient care.

Qualifications:
•    7+ years of facility maintenance experience, preferably in a healthcare or similarly regulated environment
•    Extensive knowledge of hospital systems, including medical gas, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems
•    Clean driving record (this position requires travel to different Off-Site locations
•    Experience leading maintenance teams or supervising technical staff
•    Proficiency in CMMS software and Microsoft Office Suite
•    Certifications preferred (e.g., Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), EPA Universal, Journeyman Electrician, or similar)
•    Strong understanding of Joint Commission, NFPA, OSHA, and local code compliance requirements
•    Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
