RMB Products is seeking an Operations Director who is responsible for leading the operations side of the business, including manufacturing, continuous improvement, maintenance, quality, and safety. This is a hands-on leadership role accountable for the long-term financial performance of all Value Streams within RMB Products Operations.

The Operations Director ensures alignment with business needs and growth objectives, establishes the future strategic vision, and develops and executes the continuous improvement roadmap. This position also ensures alignment with corporate directives and initiatives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

This position includes the following essential functions but is not limited to them. Additional duties may be assigned:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by leading a cross-functional team to execute the Annual Operating Plan for Safety, Quality, Productivity, On-Time Delivery, Inventory, Cost, and Growth of the RMB Products business and associates.
  • Develop and implement processes, metrics, and accountability measures to drive improvements across the manufacturing site.
  • Maximize plant efficiency, product quality, throughput, delivery performance, profitability, and return on investment.
  • Manage spending against budget, including responding to changes in production volume.
  • Oversee operations to ensure effective scheduling of production associate hours, optimization of production goals, and appropriate utilization of overtime.
  • Participate in budget preparation and long-range capital planning to ensure customer and business needs are met in an efficient and profitable manner.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Department to provide cost and profitability analysis.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks.
  • Own, develop, and drive the continuous improvement roadmap and implementation plan to achieve operational objectives and the future-state vision.
  • Direct Supply Chain personnel to ensure the quality of purchased materials and compliance with applicable state, federal, and global requirements, as well as customer timelines and expectations.
  • Encourage individual employee and team involvement by providing opportunities for constructive input and action on viable improvement ideas.
  • Inspire others to take ownership of business needs, reach their full potential, and develop as leaders.
  • Work closely with other business functions, including Engineering, Sales, Facilities, Quality, Finance, Program Management, and adjacent corporate business leaders.
  • Provide guidance and direction to individuals from cross-functional departments assigned to support Operations Value Streams.
  • Define and drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), host periodic reviews with internal teams and stakeholders, maintain planning tools, and ensure adherence to RMB Products Operating Procedures.
  • Review historical sales trends and research demand drivers to assist in preparing forecast data, statistical forecast models, and Plan-for-Every-Part (PFEP) strategies.
  • Evaluate forecast results and provide input into inventory strategies for existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
  • Consistently identify and execute inventory optimization opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable laws and requirements related to safety, environmental compliance, and corporate governance.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of Value Stream Management and Operational Excellence transformation experience preferred.

Required Skills

  • Robust Lean Manufacturing application experience in machine press and molding environments, including:
    • Value Stream Mapping
    • Standard Work
    • Daily Management
    • 5S
    • 3P
    • Set-Up Reduction
    • Materials Management/Kanban
    • Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involving strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Highly organized with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically, innovatively, and creatively to drive positive outcomes.
  • Strong ability to influence and drive change at senior levels.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to successfully navigate ambiguity.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Adaptable and flexible approach with previous experience mentoring and supporting formal change management programs and operational transformation initiatives.
  • Previous experience with plastics manufacturing within regulated industries such as aerospace, semiconductor, medical, or similar environments.
