About the Role:

The FV Shipping & Receiving Yard Jockey plays a critical role in the efficient movement and organization of trailers within the shipping and receiving yard. This position ensures that trailers are properly positioned for loading and unloading, facilitating smooth operations and minimizing delays. The Yard Jockey is responsible for safely operating yard trucks to move trailers between docks, storage areas, and staging locations. This role requires close coordination with warehouse personnel, drivers, and dispatch to maintain an organized and productive yard environment. Ultimately, the Yard Jockey contributes to the overall supply chain efficiency by ensuring timely trailer movements and supporting shipping and receiving activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or appropriate state-issued license for operating yard trucks.
  • Proven experience operating yard trucks, forklifts, or similar equipment in a shipping and receiving environment.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices related to yard operations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple trailer movements efficiently.
  • Basic communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a large-scale distribution center or logistics facility.
  • Familiarity with yard management systems or related software.
  • Additional certifications related to equipment operation or safety training.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues with yard trucks.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate yard trucks to move trailers to and from loading docks, storage areas, and staging locations safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect trailers for damage and report any issues to the appropriate personnel to maintain safety and compliance standards.
