Description
To provide engineering services in regards to development, design, detailing, analysis, production, cost estimating, revisions, QA, application, sales, and customer support of products produced by Modula Inc.
Requirements
- Takes part in research and development projects as assigned.
- Takes part in the continuing improvement of current products and processes.
- Creates and/or executes engineering change notices.
- Designs components and assemblies. Tasks may include concept, design, component/material selection, creation of fabrication/assembly drawings, analysis, BOMS, routings, cost estimates, testing, and documentation.
- Assist production planning and purchasing on make/buy decisions.
- Take part in on-site and off-site training as assigned related to the generation of programs used to produce parts on our automated equipment.
- Generate machine programs for the production of parts. May include 2D and 3D laser cutting, punching, forming and robotic welding.
- Provide technical support to the production group. Activities include production order review/processing, answering questions, developing production and QA procedures, first article inspections, assisting in troubleshooting problems with components or processing equipment, and the design of production aids such as fixtures and racking.
- Provided technical support to Customer Care when required. Activities include assistance with troubleshooting site issues and support for requested field modifications.
- Provide technical support to Sales when required. Activities include answering questions, assisting with product application, evaluating and implementing special requests, cost estimating, machine layouts, and obtaining seismic analysis when required.
- Takes part in customer project work. Activities may include system layouts, creation of BOMs and shipping lists, material requisition, custom component design, assistance in production release, installation drawings and documentation, assembly of customer manuals, creation of spare parts listings, and installation and commissioning technical support.
- Contacts customers and dealers through phone communication or in person to clarify any concerns or questions about their project
- May be asked to go to a customer site for project kick-off meetings, site measurements and evaluation, system audits, issue resolution, and to provide on-site training assistance. This may include hands-on work.

- Provides feedback to relevant departments to enhance Modula’s future success
- Adheres to all established department and company standard operating procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
- III. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or eight (5) to ten (10) years related job experience
- Proficient user in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, 2D AutoCAD and 3D modeling. Experience with PTC Creo modeling, Windchill document management, FEA analysis, and SAP is preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in a cross cultural environment (multilingual or bilingual incumbent, especially that of Italian, is preferred)
Level I – 0 to 5 years of experience, limited skills, limited authority, and limited responsibility
Level II – 3 to 7 years of experience, demonstrates skills in a number of areas, ability to make some level of decisions with minimal supervision
Level II – 5 or more years of experience, mastery of majority of necessary skills, needs no direct guidance on everyday tasks, able to work independently
