PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER

Education
Master's Degree or Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program.

Experience
Minimum of one (1) year of psychiatric nursing or behavioral health experience preferred.
Experience treating child/adolescent and adult psychiatric populations preferred.
Inpatient behavioral health experience strongly preferred.

Licensure and Certification

Current Tennessee licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority.
Current BLS/CPR certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and behavioral health treatment modalities.
Understanding of behavioral health regulations, standards, and best practices.
Knowledge of crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation techniques, and risk assessment.
Ability to establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Knowledge of age-specific growth and development for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
Proficiency with electronic medical records and healthcare technology systems.

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods.
Ability to respond rapidly during emergency or crisis situations.
Ability to participate in patient management and behavioral intervention activities as required.
Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
