About Us
At Orases, we are dedicated to delivering innovative software solutions that empower our clients to achieve their business goals. We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Analyst to join our team.

Orases builds custom software for clients across a wide range of industries, which means our analysts touch a lot of different problem spaces rather than maintaining a single product. You’ll work on real systems with real users, alongside a team that invests in developing its people and gives you room to bring new tools and approaches into how we work.

Note: Applicants must be U.S. based, able to work on East Coast time, and eligible to work in the U.S.

Summary

Flexible work options: Work from our beautiful office in Frederick, MD, or remotely. We’re looking for a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst with 2 or more years of experience who’s ready to take ownership of their own work streams. You’ll join a collaborative team building custom software for clients across a wide range of industries, which means a lot of variety and a lot of chances to learn something new. You’ll report to a Senior Business Analyst or Team Lead who’s there to support you, remove roadblocks, and help you grow, while you take the lead on the day-to-day analysis and testing work for your projects.

Above all, we’re looking for someone who’s a good teammate: adaptable, easy to work with, and steady when priorities shift.

This job description does not cover all duties and responsibilities. Team members may be asked to take on additional tasks as needed, which may or may not be directly related to their primary role, based on business requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

Requirements and Documentation

  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with client stakeholders and translate discussion into clear, buildable documentation
  • Write business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows with minimal rework
  • Produce wireframes and workflow diagrams to support requirements discussions
  • Maintain project documentation so it stays accurate as scope evolves
  • Identify gaps, conflicts, and unstated assumptions in requirements before they reach development

Quality Assurance and Testing

  • Own the QA cycle for assigned features: build test plans and cases, execute manual testing, and report results
  • Perform functional, usability, regression, and cross-browser testing on custom web applications
  • Write and maintain automated test scripts using AI-assisted or traditional testing tools
  • Write defect tickets that developers can act on
  • Track issues through resolution and verify fixes before release

UAT and Release Support

  • Coordinate user acceptance testing, including preparing UAT documentation and guiding client testers through it
  • Triage client UAT feedback into actionable tickets and distinguish defects from change requests
  • Support release activities and post-deployment validation

Team and Process

  • Manage your own ticket queue and flag risks early rather than after a deadline slips
  • Collaborate directly with developers, designers, and project managers on scope, feasibility, and sequencing
  • Serve as a primary point of contact across discovery, requirements, QA, and delivery on lean cross-functional teams
  • Contribute improvements to team templates, processes, and standards

Required Knowledge, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2–5 years of experience in a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, QA Analyst, or similarly hands-on delivery role
  • Demonstrated experience writing requirements documentation and user stories that development teams have actually built from
  • Hands-on experience testing web applications, including writing your own test cases and performing manual and automated testing
  • Working experience with ticketing and documentation platforms; Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) preferred
  • Comfortable working directly with clients and non-technical stakeholders, including delivering unwelcome news about scope or timeline
  • Practical experience using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) as part of your day-to-day work: drafting documentation, analyzing requirements, summarizing meetings, or accelerating research
  • Solid understanding of how web applications are structured, including basic familiarity with APIs, databases, and integrations
  • Strong GSuite experience (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides)
  • Strong written communication: your documentation should be clear enough that it doesn’t need to be explained
  • Well-organized, deadline-driven, and able to manage competing priorities across more than one project
  • Able to work independently with a senior team member available for guidance, rather than requiring day-to-day direction

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with Claude specifically, including working with Projects, custom instructions, or MCP connectors
  • Experience with data analytics, data mining, or SQL
  • Familiarity with API integrations and how to investigate and document them
  • AI-assisted coding experience using tools like Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar to read code, write scripts, or prototype
  • Agile/Scrum delivery experience in a client services, consulting, or agency environment
  • Experience with process mapping or diagramming tools

Level Expectations

This role is a fit if you:

  • Have 2–5 years of hands-on BA or QA experience and are looking to grow, not manage
  • Want to deepen your craft as an analyst with room to grow into senior scope over time
  • Are comfortable being accountable for your own workstreams within a larger delivery effort
  • Are comfortable with a compensation range of $75,000–$85,000

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annualized base salary range is: $75,000 to $85,000.
  • Eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
  • Flexible work options: Work from our beautiful office in Frederick, MD, or remotely.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans with nationwide options to meet your needs wherever you hang your hat.
  • Company-paid life insurance, short-term, and long-term disability. Let us pay for your peace of mind.
  • 401K Roth and non Roth options with a 4% company match for the first 5% you contribute. This FREE MONEY is fully vested and portable should you make the decision to leave us one day.
  • Fringe benefits to offer you lifestyle choices of where your benefits money goes. Options range from pet insurance, activity kits for kids, hotels and travel, health and wellness options, food delivery options, and the choices go on and on for you to decide what benefits YOU.
  • Paid personal time off (3 weeks) and company holidays (typically 13 including full company shut down 12/25-1/1).
  • Employee Assistance Program for confidential support. We offer a 3rd party confidential help line to call 24 hours a day for whatever life throws your way or just to talk if needed.
  • Training and learning opportunities to help you excel in your career.
  • Team perk pickup truck, Orases One, for personal use that you can borrow for driving, hauling or moving.
  • Talented team of salespeople, software developers, and more to support you in building campaigns, automations, videos, and whatever else you may need to grow the Orases brand.
  • Fun and silly events, celebrations, and team social opportunities both virtually and in person. We regularly fly in team members who want to visit the office or experience an in person event.
  • Annual all employee retreat where the entire team comes together in person to bond and have fun!

Our Core Values are D.R.I.V.E. and we use them to drive us forward in every way.

  • Demonstrate Thoughtful Communication: Say what you mean in a respectful, timely and relevant manner, remembering that not everything needs to be said.
  • Rise to the Occasion: Have the grit to dig deep when needed and to get it done.
  • Integrity All the Time: Do what you say you are going to do.
  • Value to Clients: Be present, contribute and be a good steward of the client's money.
  • Excel at Your Craft: Constantly seek new ways to grow and learn to be the best you can be.
