Role Overview

Frontera Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Staff Pediatrician (MD) to deliver high-quality primary medical care in Fredericksburg, TX. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will manage an outpatient panel, provide clinical oversight, and drive community health initiatives in a supportive clinic environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Direct Patient Care: Provide direct pediatric clinical care (~4,200 annual encounters / 40 hours weekly), including routine check-ups, acute illness diagnosis, and management plans.
  • Continuity & Coverage: Review lab/X-ray results promptly, coordinate specialty referrals, and participate in scheduled emergency on-call coverage if required by local hospitals.
  • Clinical Oversight: Supervise support staff, mentor medical students, and collaborate with the Medical Director on quality improvement and PCMH standards.
  • Patient Education & Outreach: Educate patients and families on preventive health, disease management, and community health promotion initiatives.

Requirements

 

Qualifications:

Required Credentials & Experience:

  • Education: Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited school of medicine.
  • Licensure: Active, unrestricted license from the Texas Medical Board.
  • Registrations: Current DEA and DPS certificates to practice in Texas.
  • Certifications: Active CPR for Healthcare Professionals certification.
  • Hospital Privileges: Ability to hold privileges at designated area hospitals (if required).
  • Clinical Knowledge: Proficiency in the Texas Medical Practice Act, pediatric protocols, and EHR documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience: 1+ years of direct pediatric practice experience.
  • Language: Bilingual in Spanish (speaking and writing).

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift/move >50 lbs as needed during patient care.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic clinic environment with standard exposure to healthcare settings.
