What You’ll Do
The City of Fredericksburg is seeking a dedicated and experienced Utility Projects Manager to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in leading and managing public utility projects, overseeing the development, design, and construction of utility maintenance and capital improvement initiatives. The Utility Projects Manager will coordinate with city departments and external organizations to ensure projects are delivered within scope, resources, time, and budget constraints while maintaining high levels of customer service and stakeholder satisfaction. | Project Management Manage all phases of the project life-cycle from initiation to closure. | Project Delivery Deliver projects within scope, resources, time, and budget constraints. |
| Program Development Assist in developing water and sewer programs. | Program Administration Administer water and sewer programs. |
Position Overview
- Lead and manage public utility projects.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in utility construction, operations, or project management.
- 3-5 years’ experience in municipal public works operations, administration, or project management in a local government setting.
- Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) Certificate
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Virginia, or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire.
