Overview

Processes incoming premium payments and reviews payment discrepancies including items rejected by policyholder's financial institutions. Processes ACH transactions (Automated Clearing House), credit card, and loan payments and responds to other inquiries related to these categories. Responds to inquiries relating to Accounting Category Work, i.e., Billing, Group Billing, etc. Responses are typically made in writing. At times telephone responses are necessary depending on the urgency of the inquiry.

Responsibilities

What you will do:
  • Billing Inquiries - Researches and answers inquires by policyholders in regards to billing and payment concerns.
  • Outstanding Cash Processing - Researches and applies premium and loan payments, i.e. policyholder intent.
  • ACH Checking - Processes enrollments in ACH and answers inquiries.
  • Credit Card - Processes enrollments in Credit Card and answers inquiries.
  • College Plan review - Tax form review and payment application.
  • Other Projects - Workflow/System analysis and cost savings opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma - Required
  • LOMA courses a plus - Preferred
  • 2-plus years' experience with Gerber Life products and procedures. - Preferred
  • 2-plus years' experience writing letters/emails. - Preferred
  • Demonstrated quality and customer focus. -
  • Proven ability to do research and be analytical with excellent judgment, problem solving, decision-making and follow-through skills. -
  • Proven ability and accuracy in analyzing/summarizing detailed information. -
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills with the ability to express ideas and concepts clearly. -
  • Proven ability to work in a multi-task environment. -
  • Knowledge of OnBase. -
  • Knowledge of Mainframe. -
  • Knowledge of LipGloss. -
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word. -
  • Knowledge of Excel. -
Work Setting/Position Demands:
  • Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
  • Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
  • Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
  • Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
  • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
