The Accounting Clerk provides essential support to the day-to-day accounting operations of our manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for accurately processing financial transactions, maintaining accounting records, supporting accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with inventory and manufacturing-related accounting activities. The Accounting Clerk works closely with the accounting, purchasing, production, warehouse, and operations teams to ensure financial information is complete, accurate, and timely. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and maintain accounts payable invoices, purchase orders, and vendor payments.
  • Assist with accounts receivable, including customer invoices, cash receipts, and account reconciliations.
  • Enter and maintain accurate financial data in the accounting system.
  • Match invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documentation.
  • Assist with inventory accounting, including inventory receipts, adjustments, transfers, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate records of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods transactions.
  • Assist with tracking manufacturing costs, production expenses, and purchase costs.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, vendor statements, and general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Prepare routine accounting reports, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in invoices, payments, inventory records, and account balances.
  • Maintain organized accounting files and documentation.
  • Assist the accounting team with audits and other financial reporting requirements.
  • Follow company accounting policies, internal controls, and procedures.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; accounting coursework or an associate degree is preferred.
  • 1–3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or accounting clerk experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing or inventory accounting experience is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial transactions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with an ERP or accounting system preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferred Manufacturing Experience

Experience with any of the following is highly desirable:

  • ERP/MRP systems
  • Inventory management and reconciliation
  • Purchase orders and receiving
  • Bill of materials (BOMs)
  • Work-in-process (WIP) accounting
  • Standard costing or manufacturing costs
  • Cycle counts and physical inventory
  • Job costing
  • Production reporting

Work Environment

This position primarily works in an office/accounting environment within a manufacturing facility. The employee may occasionally interact with purchasing, production, warehouse, receiving, shipping, and management personnel.
