About the role

The Accounting Clerk is an important member of the Accounting team, supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the company across accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash application, billing, and financial recordkeeping. This position provides an opportunity to gain broad, hands-on accounting experience while working closely with the Accounting team and other departments throughout the organization.

 

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working with numbers and spreadsheets, and enjoys seeing their work through from start to finish. What you'll do

The following essential functions are the fundamental job duties of the position to be completed with or without appropriate reasonable accommodation.

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

  • Apply customer payments and cash receipts to accounts receivable balances.
  • Support accounts payable processing, including matching and processing parts invoices.
  • Prepare and distribute customer invoices and statements.
  • Help manage the accounts receivable inbox and respond to customer and internal requests.
  • Upload customer invoices to customer portals and help ensure billing requirements are completed accurately and on time.
  • Support weekly AP check runs, including printing, scanning, and mailing checks.
  • Research and help resolve billing and payment discrepancies with customers, vendors, and internal departments.
  • Follow up on outstanding customer invoices and assist with collection calls/emails as needed.
  • Scan, organize, and distribute accounting documentation to the appropriate departments.
  • Assist with additional AP and AR responsibilities as needed.

Accounting & Financial Support

  • Maintain accurate and well-organized financial records, files, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets used to track expenses, payments, cash balances, and other financial information.
  • Assist the accounting team with month-end activities and other accounting projects as assigned.
  • Support financial and other audits by gathering documentation and preparing supporting schedules.
  • Look for opportunities to improve the accuracy, organization, and efficiency of accounting processes.

Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.


Qualifications

•      High school diploma or equivalent required; no degree required

•      2-3 years of experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or related clerical role

•      Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, VLOOKUP, Xlookup, pivot tables) and the Microsoft Office Suite

•      Basic understanding of general accounting principles and practices

•      Ability to learn and effectively use accounting/ERP software

•      Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial recordkeeping

•      Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

•      Good written and verbal communication skills

•      Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team

Preferred

•      Associate's degree in accounting, business, or a related field

Prior experience with an accounting/ERP software system
