Overview

The Manager of the Financial Clearance Center (HB/PB) is responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring timely, accurate execution of centralized financial clearance activities, including benefits/eligibility verification, authorization and pre-certification, medical necessity validation, patient liability estimation, and financial counseling and care coverage prior to time of service. This role manages team workflows, monitors productivity and quality, resolves operational issues, supports standard work, and ensures staff follow established processes, service standards, escalation pathways, and compliance expectations across the enterprise. The Manager partners with Scheduling & Pre-Service, On-Site Registration, Utilization Management, Clinical Operations, Patient Financial Services, Revenue Integrity, Technology/Analytics, and strategic business partners to support consistent pre-service outcomes, reduce avoidable denials and day-of-service disruption, and improve the patient financial experience.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in revenue cycle, patient access, financial clearance, authorization, or related healthcare operations.

• Supervisory or team lead experience preferred.

• License/Certification/Registration: Not required.

• Strong operational management skills, including experience overseeing:

  • Daily work execution
  • Staffing and workforce management
  • Productivity monitoring
  • Quality assurance
  • Service level standards

• Effective communication skills with the ability to:

  • Provide clear direction to staff
  • Coach and develop team members
  • Resolve operational issues
  • Communicate updates to leadership and key stakeholders

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams through:

  • Standardized workflows
  • Process improvements and changes
  • Employee training and development
  • Performance expectations and accountability measures

• Strong technology fluency with experience using:

  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) revenue cycle modules
  • Real-Time Eligibility (RTE) tools
  • Authorization and referral workflows
  • Work queue management platforms
  • Operational dashboards
  • Reporting and analytics tools

• Proven ability to support operational efficiency, quality outcomes, and service excellence in a healthcare environment.

• Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and team collaboration skills.
