Job DetailsJob Location: Syracuse, NY - Syracuse, NY 13209Position Type: Full-Time/Part-TimeSalary Range: $16.00 - $21.30 HourlyJob Shift: AnyJob Category: Nonprofit - Social ServicesAdvocates is seeking a Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to support an active adult male with a developmental disability. He and his family are looking for a Mentor to assist him with working on his goals within his surrounding community.       Goals include:   • Volunteering in the community   • Making healthy choices through exercise and diet  Positive communication and relationship building     Seeking a DSP who is reliable, enthusiastic, creative, and active. Related experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required. Please respond with resume or summary of experience.     Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address.     Hours and days of work:   Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from approximately 9 AM – 3 PM (6 hour shifts)  Full-time opportunities may be available.    Pay rate: $21.30 per hour when providing direct support. Background checks required Education & Experience: GED or High School Diploma preferred. Applicable job experience preferred. Desired Skills and Abilities: previous experience working 1:1 in a related service environment preferred. Knowledge of disability related issues preferred. The Mentor is paid at the provider’s rate for the service based on an assessment of the specific support needs of the individual in the areas of behavioral support, communication support, and physical support needs.
