What we’re looking for

The Scheduler is responsible for scheduling patient testing, procedures, and admissions; obtains pre-cert/authorization numbers and enters in the scheduling or registration system; obtains and enters accurate insurance information; answers incoming phone calls.

 

How you’ll contribute

  • Schedule all patients for ancillary, surgical, and medical testing/procedures/admissions.

  • Ensuring that patients are not scheduled when personnel are unavailable.

  • Inform patient or physician's office staff of any carrier that is out of network or any issue that may result in a decrease of benefits.

  • Inform patient or physician's office staff of any special instructions or testing requirements, and/or provide any other pertinent information or documents.

  • Maintain knowledge of the scheduling reports for the next day to ensure patient registration staff are aware of patients presenting for services; appropriate testing is performed; time is available; appropriate staff are available for testing or procedures to be performed.

  • Obtain physician's orders and authorization/pre-certification. 

  • Enter outpatient procedures in the Order Entry System.

  • Ensure consistency between scheduling module and admissions module, for patients being admitted for services. 

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Three years of directly related experience may be substituted for required education.

  • Prior scheduling experience in a healthcare environment strongly preferred. Medical terminology, billing, and/or collections experience preferred. 

  • Computer experience required.

 

Schedule: Full Time / Day
