Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Monitor network performance and availability; investigate alerts, identify root cause, and resolve escalated issues in coordination with senior team members and other IT groups.
  • Configure and maintain network monitoring and logging to improve visibility and reduce mean time to resolution (MTTR).
  • Implement and administer network security controls (e.g., firewall rules, Access Control Lists (ACL)s, segmentation, Virtual Private Network (VPN)) under established security standards, and participate in security reviews, vulnerability remediation, and incident response.
  • Design, implement, and document Local Area Network (LAN)/ Global Wide Area Network (WAN) solutions following established standards and best practices.
  • Evaluate and recommend LAN topologies, routing/switching approaches, and network operating systems/features to meet business requirements.
  • Lead or co-lead network upgrades and new deployments, create implementation and rollback plans, and execute changes in accordance with change management procedures.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting across switching, routing, wireless, and related services; analyze trends and metrics to optimize performance, resiliency, and capacity.
  • Administer network infrastructure including configuration management, maintenance, fault isolation, and standards implementation.
  • Perform backup/restore activities for network device configurations, maintain accurate inventory and documentation, and support lifecycle management (patching, hardware refresh, and decommissioning).
  • Enforce network security standards and participate in audits and compliance activities.
  • Support and deliver enterprise-wide projects by owning defined network workstreams, coordinating tasks with stakeholders, and ensuring solutions align with standards.
  • Develop implementation documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooks; contribute to post-implementation review and continuous improvement.
  • Provide knowledge transfer to operations and mentor Network Engineer I team members through troubleshooting, documentation, and standard processes.
  • Pursue formal and informal continuing education to stay current on networking technologies, security practices, and vendor platforms.
  • Maintain and work toward role-relevant certifications and complete assigned training to strengthen troubleshooting, automation, and design skills.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Networking, Computer Science, or related field, along with at least 2 years’ related experience
    • Non-degree considered if 6+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED
  • Occasional travel (0-5%) Valid passport or ability to obtain one if needed.  

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Good working knowledge of network protocols and services (e.g., Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet Protocol (IP), Domain Name Service (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)), routing and switching concepts, wireless, and network monitoring tools.
  • Experience with firewall administration and VPN technologies.
  • Cisco CCNA; CCNP (or equivalent). 

 

A reasonable driving commute to the New Bremen, OH location is necessary (1-2 hours).
