The MIG Welding Fabricator is responsible for fabricating and welding various components for the production department as per drawing specifications, safety procedures, approved weld procedures and quality assurance requirements.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Fit and weld complex assemblies following standard work and blueprints.
- Consistently perform high-quality welds using GTAW processes in positions 1F through 4F.
- Operate hand and air tools safely and effectively, including die grinders, angle grinders, drills, skill saws, and gouging equipment.
- Maintain close attention to measurements and fabrication details to ensure top-quality results.
- Demonstrate quality-at-source practices by self-inspecting work throughout the fabrication process.
- Identify and correct issues early to maintain consistent standards.
- Safely perform complex crane lifts as required by job specifications.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and performing tasks requiring manual dexterity.
- Follow all safety protocols and company procedures when working with tools, machinery, and materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
Education & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Completion of a Welding Certificate program an asset.
- CWB certification or C-Ticket (or higher) is considered a strong asset.
Specific Skills
- Proficiency in various welding techniques, including TIG and MIG
- Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards, such as AWS D1.1 and ASME Section IX
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Familiarity with different types of welding equipment and tools
- Basic understanding of metallurgy and heat treatment processes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to work overtime or weekends as required
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials, working in various positions and environments
- Ability to lift 50lbs and possess manual dexterity
