Total Industrial Solutions (TIS) is looking for an experienced Industrial Construction Project Manager to join our growing team in West Michigan.
TIS specializes in complex industrial fire protection projects throughout the United States. Our work includes refineries, fuel terminals, manufacturing facilities, loading racks, aircraft facilities, and other industrial and high-hazard environments.
Fire protection experience is preferred, but it is not required.
We are interested in experienced Project Managers from industrial construction, mechanical contracting, process piping, electrical, controls, fire protection, and similar construction backgrounds. If you understand how to manage industrial construction projects, people, customers, schedules, and budgets, we can teach you the specialized fire protection side of our business.
What You'll Do
As a Project Manager, you will have responsibility for your projects from planning through completion, working directly with customers, field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and our internal team.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage industrial construction projects from award through completion
- Coordinate field labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors and project schedules
- Maintain strong communication with customers and project stakeholders
- Review project scope, drawings, specifications and contract requirements
- Track project costs, labor, schedules and overall financial performance
- Identify scope changes and manage change orders
- Coordinate with engineering and design teams
- Assist with procurement and vendor coordination
- Support field supervisors and crews throughout project execution
- Participate in project meetings and customer coordination
- Help identify and resolve project issues before they impact schedule or budget
- Maintain project documentation and closeout requirements
- Travel to customer sites as needed
The Background We're Looking For
We are less concerned about finding someone who checks every box and more interested in finding a strong construction professional who knows how to take ownership of a project.
Ideal candidates will have experience in one or more of the following:
- Industrial construction
- Mechanical contracting
- Process piping
- Fire protection
- Electrical or controls
- Oil & gas or petrochemical facilities
- Manufacturing or heavy industrial construction
- Other technically complex construction environments
Previous Project Manager experience is preferred, but we will also consider experienced Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents or field leaders who are ready to move into a Project Manager role.
What We Value
We're looking for someone who:
- Takes ownership and follows through
- Communicates well with customers and field personnel
- Understands construction schedules and job costs
- Can manage multiple priorities without losing sight of the details
- Is comfortable making decisions and solving problems
- Understands the importance of safety and quality
- Works well independently while still being part of a team
- Wants an opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding organization
Experience with specialized industrial fire protection systems—including firewater, foam, deluge, dry chemical, special hazards, fire alarm/detection or suppression systems—is a plus, but we will train the right candidate.
