Communications & Events Director

Park Chapel Christian Church | Greenfield, Indiana

Love Jesus. Love people. Tell great stories. Make things happen.

Park Chapel Christian Church is looking for an experienced, highly organized, creative, and relational Communications & Events Director to help us tell the story of what God is doing, create experiences that bring people together, and build the systems that move great ideas from concept to reality.

This isn't simply a graphic design or social media position.

We're looking for a big-picture thinker and strong executor who can develop strategy, manage multiple projects, collaborate with ministry leaders, tell compelling stories, and make sure the details get done.

We're open to experienced professionals from communications, marketing, events, project management, public relations, hospitality, creative services, nonprofit leadership, and related fields who feel called to use their gifts to serve the local church.

What You'll Do

Communications & Storytelling – 40%
Lead Park Chapel's church-wide communications strategy and manage our website, app, email, social media, promotional calendar, brand, and digital presence. Help identify and tell stories of life change and ministry impact through written content, photography, video, social media, and other creative channels.

Events & Ministry Logistics –30%
Help plan and coordinate major church-wide events and support ministry-specific events through strong timelines, registrations, facility coordination, communication, signage, vendors, volunteers, and logistics.

Systems & Administration –20%
Help manage and improve the systems behind ministry including: Planning Center/Church Center, Breeze, forms, registrations, workflows, databases, and our church-wide calendar.

Volunteers & Creative Teams –10%
Recruit and develop photographers, videographers, designers, content creators, and other volunteers who can help tell Park Chapel's story and execute events with excellence.

Unique First-Year Opportunity

We don't expect you to walk in on Day One and know every part of this job.

During your first 4–6 months, your primary focus will be Communications: learning Park Chapel, developing relationships, leading our communication platforms, and strengthening our strategy and systems.

Throughout your first year, you'll also have intentional opportunities to shadow and learn from a long-tenured staff member who plans to retire in September 2027. You'll gradually learn Park Chapel's events, facility processes, registrations, ministry logistics, and organizational systems before assuming greater responsibility for those areas.

It's an unusual opportunity to lead immediately in your area of expertise while being given time to learn the rest of the role well!

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a growing relationship with Jesus and loves the local church.
  • Has 3–5+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Is an exceptional communicator and strong project manager.
  • Can see the big picture without losing the details.
  • Is creative, relational, organized, and highly accountable.
  • Can manage multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Enjoys collaborating with people and turning ideas into action.
  • Is comfortable with digital communications, social media, websites, marketing, events, and contemporary technology.
  • Is excited about developing volunteers and creative teams.
  • Will become an active participant and member of Park Chapel.

Previous professional church ministry experience is not required.

A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred, but significant professional experience may substitute for formal education.

Work Environment

This is a full-time hybrid ministry position, not a fully remote role.

Regular on-campus presence is expected with flexibility to work on-site or remotely with supervisor approval. Sunday morning presence is required for this role. Office is open Monday - Thursday from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Occasional evening and weekend responsibilities are part of the position due to church-wide events, special services, weddings, funerals, and other ministry activities.

Portfolio Required

Candidates should submit a résumé and 3–5 examples of relevant professional work.

Your portfolio might include communication or marketing campaigns, social media, event promotion, websites, photography/video, graphic work, written communications, branding, project plans, or other work that demonstrates your ability to communicate, organize, create, and execute.

Church-related work is not required.
