PRIMARY PURPOSE:


The primary purpose of this job is to develop detailed drawings which will provide specifics about how equipment and structures are to be fabricated, welded, assembled, or modified.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Develop detailed drawings for mechanical equipment, piping, and controls equipment using CAD software.
  • Review customer job specifications with Project Engineer. Analyze drawings, component specifications, and system requirements to design assemblies meeting customer requirements.
  • Work with engineers, purchasing coordinators, and fabrication manager to assist in material procurement, estimating, organization, meetings, and meeting deadlines associated with projects.
  • Develop detailed drawings of assemblies and sub-assemblies to convey the functional relationship between components.
  • Confer with Project Engineer to answer questions pertaining to installation of systems based on process diagrams and bill of materials.
  • Draw freehand sketches of design concepts, translate redlines from construction drawings to generate as-built models and layouts.
  • Assist Project Engineer in the collection and storage of project documentation.
  • Complete reports and paperwork as needed.
  • Physical Requirements include climbing ladders, accessing confined spaces, using hand tools and rigging equipment, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Perform other duties as required

KNOWLEDGE/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and 3D models.
  • Knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology. SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience required.
  • Knowledge of algebra and geometry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
  • Associate degree required or equivalent
  • 3-5 years drafting and/or 3D model design experience.
