Role Overview

The General Program Assistant assists in the provision of day-to-day support activities for the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs with the goal of improving local communities and alleviating the local causes of poverty and its effects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the Project Director and Volunteer Coordinator. Assist in coordination of various program activities as assigned.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Maintain and update records and documentation. Collect, record, and processes statistical data. Assist in the processing of applications/reports for program services, mailings, and other program information.
  • Community Engagement: Assist with the implementation of various program-wide communications activities including social media, flyers, brochures, etc.
  • Training & Development: Assist in the planning and conducting in-service training, orientations, and volunteer recognition events. Provide volunteers with opportunities to learn new skills, stay informed about community resources, and engage in meaningful discussions relevant to their roles.
  • Performance Evaluation: Assist in conducting annual performance evaluations for volunteers and clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Ability to work within a multi-tasking environment, participating actively in team efforts and inter-agency committees.
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation. Must be willing to travel within the program service area which includes Ionia, Montcalm, Mecosta, and Osceola Counties.
  • A criminal records background check.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
