Job Description:

 

L3Harris is seeking a Senior Specialist, Software Engineer to join our team in Greenville, Texas. This role is for a strong hands-on software engineer who can design, develop, integrate, troubleshoot, and deliver Linux-based mission software for complex Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems. The ideal candidate brings experience in mission software, system integration, and Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps), and is comfortable working across software, hardware, networking, cybersecurity, and test teams. This is a great fit for an engineer who enjoys solving hard technical problems, owning significant software content, and contributing directly to operational capability.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Design, develop, implement, integrate, and sustain Linux-based mission software in complex system-of-systems environments.
  • Develop and debug software using high-level and object-oriented languages such as C++, Java, Python, and Bash.
  • Support software integration across software, hardware, networking, storage, and mission interface boundaries.
  • Work closely with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Integration and Test, cybersecurity, and program teams to deliver technical solutions in lab and operational environments.
  • Perform software coding, debugging, unit testing, and software component integration.
  • Contribute to software architecture, interface definition, and design decisions for mission-focused products and subsystems.
  • Support Agile development and Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) practices, including continuous integration and continuous delivery, automated testing, static code analysis, and security scan remediation.
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware issues involving communications systems, networked components, operating system behavior, and integrated mission platforms.
  • Support continuous improvement, process innovation, and lessons learned activities across the engineering organization.
  • Provide technical support and knowledge sharing to other engineers as needed.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD)Top Secret (TS) security clearance.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience, or graduate degree and minimum 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of software development experience in Linux environments.
  • Experience developing in C++ and/or Java.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
  • Experience with software component design, development, integration, and debugging in distributed or system-of-systems environments.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Active DoD Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
  • Experience on Aerospace, Defense, or ISR programs.
  • Experience integrating mission software with communications systems, radio frequency systems, computer and network infrastructure, storage systems, multi-level security systems, or mission interface designs.
  • Experience with automated test frameworks, continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, static analysis tools, and secure software delivery workflows.
  • Experience with containerization, virtualization, and hybrid computing environments such as Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with software and hardware troubleshooting in integrated lab or operational environments.
  • Experience with multithreaded, parallel, and/or graphics processing unit programming.
  • Experience with Google Protocol Buffers, socket programming, and message-based or distributed software architectures.
