Position Summary

The Fabrication Shop Plumbing Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising all daily plumbing fabrication shop operations to ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety expectations are consistently achieved. This role oversees shop personnel, coordinates fabrication activities, and works closely with project management and field operations to ensure fabricated assemblies are delivered accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. The Foreman serves as a hands-on leader, fostering a culture of safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct daily plumbing fabrication shop operations to meet production schedules, project deadlines, quality standards, and safety requirements.

  • Plan, coordinate, and assign daily work activities, manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize shop productivity and efficiency.

  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, Stratus 3D models, Bills of Material (BOMs), and fabrication documents to ensure accurate fabrication.

  • Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and inspection of plumbing systems to ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and company quality standards.

  • Ensure fabricated assemblies are completed accurately and prepared for timely delivery to project sites.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop shop personnel by providing training, coaching, and performance feedback while promoting teamwork and accountability.

  • Enforce all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and fabrication shop best practices to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Conduct daily safety meetings, monitor safe work practices, and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Monitor production metrics and identify opportunities to improve fabrication efficiency by reducing waste, minimizing rework, and eliminating production delays.

  • Coordinate material requirements and communicate with purchasing and warehouse personnel to ensure materials are available to support production schedules.

  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and safe use of fabrication equipment and shop tools.

  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, BIM/VDC personnel, and field teams to support project schedules and ensure timely delivery of fabricated materials.

  • Utilize computer systems for project tracking, scheduling, inventory management, document control, and communication.

  • Maintain accurate production records, quality documentation, and shop reporting.

  • Participate in production planning meetings and provide updates on shop progress, manpower, and production challenges.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support fabrication operations and project success.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in plumbing or construction is preferred.

  • Journeyman Plumber license or equivalent field experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial plumbing experience, including supervisory or foreman experience in a fabrication or construction environment.

  • Experience with off-site prefabrication and modular construction processes is strongly preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, fabrication techniques, materials, and applicable plumbing codes.

  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively lead shop personnel and collaborate with project teams.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

  • Experience using Stratus for fabrication workflows and 3D model navigation preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret 3D models, Bills of Material (BOMs), and fabrication drawings.

  • Familiarity with fabrication management software, inventory systems, and project tracking tools.

  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, or similar BIM/VDC software is preferred.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment for extended periods.

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to safely operate fabrication equipment and hand tools.

  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
