Position: Fleet Safety Coordinator - Driver Compliance
Pay Rate: $22 per hour
Schedule: Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm
Job Description:
The Fleet Safety Coordinator, Driver Compliance, will be required to sustain the company’s safety rating and ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations and company standards. Ensure driver qualification files are in compliance with DOT and company policy. Previous experience in transportation safety coordination is recommended.
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
Ensure driver qualification files are in compliance with Part 391 and company policy
Complete necessary employment verifications, contact attempts and account for gaps in driver qualification files
Ensure that all initial compliance items (license status, DOT physical and DOT physical self-certification) are up to date
Distribute self-certification physical report/update to all operations groups
Driver qualification activation - ensure activation requirements (in accordance with Part 391 and company policy) are met to activate the driver to active dispatch status and communicate that activation or reason for status pending to Safety and Operations management
Confirm all required new driver qualification requirements (DOT physical, drug screening and insurance) in accordance with Part 391 and ensure key compliance objectives are met
Ensure appropriate insurance requirements are met for contractors
Activate and place in compliance review drivers, tractors and contractors in the various safety and operations systems and ensure O/O insurance binders are activated and cancelled in accordance with status changes
Communicate DOT Regulations and DOT interpretations in compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
File and fax documents
Copy and distribute documents as requested
Transfer drivers from various statuses between company subsidiary motor carriers
Notify insurance company of additions and changes
Assist all Safety Department incoming phone calls and inquiries
Greet guests to the Safety Department and provide the requested assistance
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
Computer skills: Outlook, Excel, Word, Internet, AS400
Requires strong interpersonal & communication skills, compliance, implementation, and auditing tasks
Must be familiar with standard DOT or Agency Compliance concepts, practices, and procedures
Excellent writing & proof-reading skills as well as superior verbal & organizational skills
Goal oriented, self-managing with time & project consideration
Skills:
Knowledge of standard DOT Compliance concepts, practices, & procedures
Work in a “Confidential Capacity”
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to handle a heavy workload
Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion and meet various and required deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, drivers, and managers
