Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care and evaluates outcome
  • Monitors quality control of equipment and participates in continuing quality improvement in the assigned division
  • Communicates patient/family health care needs to the appropriate health care provider
  • Practices within legal, ethical and professional boundaries
  • Participates as a member of the team to achieve business goals, clinical/quality outcomes and customer satisfaction
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or registry eligible and complete within 4 months of employment
  • Completion of cardiac ultrasound training program, which includes clinical hours, or one to two years' experience performing echocardiograms and registry eligible 
  • Knowledge of techniques, patient care and use of equipment for echo testing.  Ability to produce echo information as required.  Ability to move, lift, push and position patients and equipment.  Visual activity, auditory and manual dexterity required to use keyboard and place leads on patients. Ability to clearly and understandably communicate with patients, staff and others.  Long hours without a break may be required.
